F.A.S.T. - Therapeutic Exercise 1.2

Founders of F.A.S.T.

Overview & Orientation:

The purpose of Therapeutic Exercise is so YOU can learn to take control of your body verses your body controlling what you can and can not do.  You will learn the Balance, Strength & Flexibility exercises needed to reeducate and restore muscle memory compensations and muscular imbalances.  Just like training for a marathon, this does not happen overnight, you must be commit to being frequent and consistent with your training program.  If you make it a habit to follow this training program daily for 6-8 weeks, you will see a dramatic increase in your control over your body as well as a significant improvement in ease and performance of your sport.

If you have a day with limited time, just take a quick 12 minutes to complete your Balance & Strength training.  This is far more important and frequently underestimated by patients as compared to the Flexibility exercises.  Our Balance & Strength exercises, if done correctly,  are specifically designed to reduce and minimize the dependance on daily stretching.  Over 6-8 weeks, you will find your time needed to do flexibility exercises will go from 22 minutes a day to 3-4 minutes a day.

In the end your goal is to have this program so dialed in that you are able to crank out your daily Balance, Strength & Flexibility exercises in 15 minutes.  Is that worth committing to your Therapeutic Exercise for 6-8 weeks?  Great...let’s get started!!!

Downloading Videos (Quicktime & iTunes):

To download and watch the videos you must download the latest version of both Quicktime & iTunes (see links Below).  You can watch the videos online or through iTunes.  If your broadband speed is slow the video will stop when it reaches its limit and you will have to wait for more to download before being able to watch the rest.  If you get frustrated with this or would like to have them on your computer, then you should download them into iTunes and watching them there after they fully download.  You can also put them on your iPhone or iPod to watch on the go!  Can you believe it?  Wow...we so love using the endless possibilities of technology to help reinforce your care!!!

To download ALL of the videos into iTunes, you must click the “Subscribe” icon in EACH section.  There are 6 total sections: (1) Posture & Balance (2) Posterior Strength (3) Lateral Strength (4) Anterior Strength (5) Upper Body Flexibility (6) Lower Body Flexibility.  Each of these six areas have a subscribe button for downloading the videos in that section.  As these videos are modified or updated, the older version should be automatically be replaced by the newer version in your iTunes Podcast area.

Once the videos are in your iTunes library, you can choose to watch them from your computer or transfer them to your iPod Touch/Classic/Nano (2nd or 3rd Generation) or iPhone to take with you.  If you do not have any of the above devices, we would suggest investing in one for “Your Health!”  Great excuse, huh?  :-D
