Usually everything goes well until around week 6-8 when the temporary aches and pains start becoming more constant and/or more intense. Their first thoughts go like this, “Should I push though this? Will this go away on it’s own? Why is this happening to me? Do other runners feel like this? Why does this always happen when I start running again? Maybe running is not good for me? Maybe I should take a few days, week, months off?” Can you see where the frustration and confusion as well as the myth that “running is not good for you” can come from? Most people progress too fast into running and do too much, too soon for their body tissues to strengthen and adapt to running. Let’s teach you how to safely Return to Running without causing excessive pain, inflammation and sports injuries.
Download Notes: Pain Free, Injury Free Running (Lecture Handout & Outline).pdf
Learn More About: Tri Like-a-Pro Lecture Series
Instructor: Dr. J. Choosing the right shoes for you can be confusing. The standard way of getting fit for shoes is to have someone look at how you walk without your shoes on, look at the wear pattern on the bottom of your shoes, possibly wet the bottom of your foot and have you step on a sheet of paper to see how your foot contacts the ground, then after that pull some shoes out for you to try on. After trying some on, maybe even walk or run around in them a bit, they would say, “Which ones feel the best?” This makes the shoe fit very subjective and can result in leaving the store with a pair of shoes your though “felt” the best in the store but then weeks later you don’t know if they were the right ones for you. Let us teach you how look at a pair of shoes to determine which ones will be the best for you as well as objectively test out which ones will make the biggest improvement in your body’s over all functioning. You will see how when you are in the right shoe for you, how much more loose and flexible your muscles are. Less Muscle Tension = Less Effort/More Efficient Activity.
Instructor: Dr. J. I was so completely intimidated thinking of showing up at my first ever triathlon, 8 years ago, wondering if I would be the only one who would not be a serious/intense triathlete in spandex and lean as a greyhound. Much to my surprise and relief, when I arrived early on that Sunday morning in September there was a wide variety of all shapes, sizes and ages! Now that made me feel much better right away!!! The real icing on the cake that day? Everyone was friendly, spirited, smiley, cheerful, helpful and encouraging! So many people asked me if this was my first triathlon (I guess the beat-up muddy mountain bike, last years swim trunks and lack of shinny cool gear was a dead give-a-way!). They were all so helpful by giving me little hints, tips and tricks for the event. Not that anything was ultra-tricky that day but it was amazing how they were all willing to share helpful advice to make the event more enjoyable and less confusing/embarrassing for me. I was also one of 100+ new-be’s out there...I was not alone! What really surprised me is I saw “Doggie Paddlers” on the swim portion, “Joy Rider’s” on the bike portion, and “Walker’s” on the run portion! What...you don’t have to go all out and “Bonk” like I did?!? What was this sport all about anyway?!? What I have learned since is this is not really a race against the clock, not really a race against others, not something to make your feel bad about yourself at the end...to the contrary, it is motivation to get fit, a reward for cross-training (swim, bike, run), a personal fitness challenge and a community of encouraging, cheerful, helpful and supporting friends! I dare you to “Tri One”...just one...just do it...bet you’ll be hooked! If you can Doggie Paddle, Joy Ride & Walk...You can do your First Triathlon Ever. <itunes:summary>Tri Like-a-Pro Lecture SeriesRight & Wrong Triathlon Training Methods - Session #1Tips & Tricks That Will Increase Your Performance & Decrease Your InjuriesSeriously...doing your first ever triathlon is not as impossible as it seems! This training program was designed to shave a minute or more off of their pace as well as prevent the most common sports injuries associated with running incorrectly. We have already had great feedback and results from participants in the clinic who have followed our program. This is a 6-8 week commitment, to seek the results we claim.
You can watch the “Sneak Peek” on this page or link to the the fully recorded podcast and systematic training plan (3-Hrs), just click the link below:

Instructor: Dr. J.
